The first mosque to host the Friday Prayer is al-Jum'ah Mosque, one of the historical mosques in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah City in the west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The mosque is located southwest of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, about nine hundred m north of Quba Mosque and about six km from the Prophet's Mosque.

The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him (PBUH), performed the first Friday Prayer at this location in 622. Al-Jum'ah Mosque is situated in the basin of Wadi ar-Ranuna' and is known by several names, including: Al-Wadi Mosque, al-Qubayb Mosque, and Aetikah Mosque.

In 1989, al-Jum'ah Mosque underwent reconstruction and expansion and was reopened in 1992. Its area was expanded to accommodate 650 worshippers, whereas previously it could hold no more than seventy worshippers. The mosque features a tall minaret, a main dome centered over the prayer hall, and four smaller domes distributed around it.
