Abdulrahman Bin Saad Bin Saeed (1925 - 2011) is the founder of al-Hilal SFC and one of the founders of Saudi al-Shabab FC in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He assumed several administrative positions in the local sports field. He also contributed to fostering the local sports movement. He has been awarded several medals and accolades.
Life of Abdulrahman Bin Saeed
Abdulrahman Bin Saeed was born in the capital, Riyadh. He learned the Noble Quran and Hadith at a young age. He studied with sheiks and religious scholars, including Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulatif Al al-Sheikh. He was interested in reading history, exegesis, Arabic literature, Arabic lexicons, and literary magazines.
Career beginnings of Abdulrahman Bin Saeed
Abdulrahman Bin Saeed began his career when he was younger than twenty years old, as an employee of the Ministry of Finance. He then worked for the Court of King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud when he was a crown prince, where he wrote the Kingdom's letters and correspondence, before becoming the court's deputy chairman.
He worked as secretary of the Supreme Royal Committee of the Royal Court, chairman of the Clubs Division, and chairman of the Department of Sports Affairs at one of the ministries. He also assumed several positions at the Council of Ministers.
Abdulrahman Bin Saeed and sports clubs
Abdulrahman Bin Saeed started founding sports clubs and teams when he leased a mud house in Riyadh. He then formed a team among the employees he met throughout his career. He managed the team for two years before founding Saudi al-Shabab FC. He chaired the club in 1948 and won his first championship.
Bin Saeed remained chairman of the club for around ten years before his resignation. He then founded the Olympian Club (currently, al-Hilal SFC). He rented its location and bore all financial expenses, including players' uniforms and sports training equipment. Then, the club's name changed from the Olympian Club to al-Hilal SFC.
In 1960, he chaired the first board of directors in the history of al-Hilal SFC. He led the team and won several championships.
