Ahmed Jamil Madani was born in 1970, in al-Hindawiya Neighborhood, Jeddah Governorate. He is a football captain, al-Ittihad Club player, and a player of the Saudi national football team.

Beginnings of Ahmed Jamil

Ahmed Jamil began his sports career at al-Hawari while pursuing his studies. His father assumed an essential role in teaching him the love of al-Ittihad Club, and he decided to become a fan of the club. He joined al-Ittihad Club in 1979 and started playing with the junior team under the supervision of coach Abdullah Saleh. Ahmed Jamil launched his career with the junior team before gradually rising to the ranks of the youth and senior teams in 1984 after he played for three years only with the younger age groups. Ahmed Jamil was known for his leadership, influence on his teammates' performance, and encouragement of other players. He was also renowned for his sacrifices in favor of his club's victory.

Achievements of Ahmed Jamil with al-Ittihad Club

Ahmed Jamil was of the golden age generation. He led his club to victory in several local and foreign championships. First earning the King's Cup in 1988, he also held the Crown Prince Cup twice (1991 and 1996), the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup three times (1997, 1998, and 1999), and Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Cup three times (1986, 1997, and 1998). In terms of foreign championships, Ahmed Jamil won with his club the Gulf Club Champions League in 1999 and the Asian Cup Winners' Cup (ninth Asian Cup) in 1998.

Achievements of Ahmed Jamil with the Saudi national team

Ahmed Jamil participated in 117 matches with the Saudi national team, where he scored five goals. He participated in several championships and realized achievements in favor of the Kingdom, notably winning the ninth Asian Cup in 1988, in Qatar, and the eleventh Asian Cup in 1996, in the United Arab Emirates. He also qualified with the team to the World Cup finals twice, in 1994, in the United States of America, and in 1998, in France. He contributed to winning the Arabian Gulf Cup in 1994, in the United Arab Emirates.

Individual achievements of Ahmed Jamil

In 1996, Ahmed Jamil was selected to the World Cup Dream Team that played in the Italian city of Genoa in support of cancer patients. He is one of the top one hundred players of the International Federation of Association Football, as he played more than 117 international matches with the Saudi national team.

Retirement of Ahmed Jamil

In 2011, Ahmed Jamil ended his football career during a retirement event held at Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Stadium. The event featured a game between al-Ittihad Club, including several local and Arab football stars, and Trabzonspor Turkish team. Al-Ittihad Club won upon scoring three goals against only one scored by Trabzonspor.
