Do Tank is a workshop that provides an incubating space and environment for creators in the cultural sector of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, encouraging them to innovate in various fields of design and production. The lab aims to contribute to enhancing local production and manufacturing of cultural products, thereby improving the quality of outputs in the cultural sector. It was inaugurated on December 27, 2023, at al-Mashtal Creative Incubator in the Diplomatic Quarter of Riyadh City.
Funding of Do Tank
Do Tank is funded by the Cultural Fund as part of the Cultural Projects Incentive Program provided by the fund in partnership with the Quality of Life Program, with a total budget of SAR181 million. The aim is to provide non-refundable financial support and incentives for cultural sector projects. Through this program, the fund has financed thirty-six cultural projects with activities and fields spanning the various sixteen cultural sectors, including natural heritage, architecture and design, museums, music, performing arts, cultural and archaeological sites, heritage, fashion, books and publishing, film and visual presentations, language, poetry, culinary arts, cultural festivals and events, visual arts, and libraries.
Architecture and design at Do Tank
Do Tank project indirectly impacts the architecture and design sector, serving as a link between design and production by offering specialized training programs that balance technical and practical knowledge. These programs focus on the use of both traditional and modern machinery across various fields, such as 3D printing, basic and electrical tools, carpentry, laser cutting, and other technologies, aimed at developing skills and enhancing the creative potential of participants. Do Tank aims to serve a diverse range of creative groups, such as innovators, designers, and architects, by building a production system that encompasses all stages of development—from concept formulation and prototype building to final production.
