Where Is al-Thumairi Street Located?

Al-Thumairi Street is located on the eastern side of the Saudi capital, Riyadh. It is one of its oldest streets. It houses al-Thumairi Gate, located in proximity to al-Masmak Palace. It was named after Hassan al-Thumairi, mentioned in historical sources, who was killed at its gate in the Battle of Dalaqa (1747), during the events leading to the foundation of the First Saudi State.

Al-Thumairi Street features a market and two traditional neighborhoods. It neighbors other flea markets, including al-Maigliah Souq and Souq al-Zal. Al-Thumairi Street was the first to be paved in Riyadh City in 1923, becoming the nucleus of the city's road network.
