Nasir al-Naimi

Nasir Khalid al-Naimi has been the President of Upstream at the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) since July 1, 2023. He has also been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) since April 2024.

Qualifications of Nasir al-Naimi

Nasir al-Naimi obtained a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Southern California, United States of America, in 1985.

Life of Nasir al-Naimi

Nasir al-Naimi began his career with Saudi Aramco as an engineering aide in the Planning and Administration Services Division for the Northern Area Oil Operations in 1980. In 1985, he joined Petroleum Engineering’s Professional Development Program. He then worked in production engineering in Zuluf, Marjan, and Manifa oil fields. In 1993, he moved to Safaniyah Producing Operations where he worked as a Senior Operations Adviser.

Between 1994 and 1997, he assumed leadership positions at the company, including Superintendent of Oil Operations for Zuluf Onshore Producing Operations, Northern Area Producing Well Services, and Abu Ali Producing Operations. In 1997, he began working with Crude Oil Sales and Marketing as well as with Product Sales and Marketing. In 2000, he was appointed Senior Marketing Manager of Gasoline Distillates and Sulfur Marketing before serving as Manager of Product Sales and Marketing and Manager of Marketing Services for Saudi Petroleum International Inc. in New York where he remained in office until 2001.

In 2003, he assumed the position of Manager of the Marine Department, before being appointed Manager of the Mechanical Services Shops Department in 2004. In 2007, he was appointed Manager of Terminals and acting Executive Director of Industrial Services.

In 2009, he was nominated General Manager of Southern Area Producing. In 2010, he was appointed Executive Director of Pipelines, Distribution and Terminals. In 2012, he was appointed Vice President for Northern Area Oil Operations and then assumed the position of Vice President for Petroleum Engineering and Development in 2016.

On April 1, 2021, he held the position of Executive Vice President of Upstream and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Aramco Upstream Technology Company between 2021 and 2022.

Memberships of Nasir al-Naimi

Nasir al-Naimi assumed membership in many entities, such as the Board of Directors of Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Co., Ltd (SAMREF) from 2011 to 2014, the Arabian Drilling Company from 2017 to 2020, Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures and Saudi Aramco Technologies Company (SATC) from 2019 to 2021.

Nasir al-Naimi participated in leadership development programs during his tenure at Saudi Aramco, including his participation in the Leadership Challenge Program (1998), the London Business School Senior Executive Program (2004), and the Asian Business and Culture Program (2008).
