Museum in the Sky is a flying museum that embarked on its inaugural flight from Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to al-Ula Governorate, al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province, northwest of the Kingdom, in November 2021. The journey was organized by the Royal Commission for al-Ula and Saudia.

Museum in the Sky and archaeological sites in al-Ula

The Museum in the Sky flight journeyed from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Prince Abdul Majeed Bin Abdulaziz Airport in al-Ula. The museum aims to highlight and globally promote al-Ula's archaeological sites as a tourist destination. It featured selected replicas of artifacts discovered in al-Ula during excavation work conducted by archaeologists. The Museum in the Sky flight refocuses attention on al-Ula as a living museum, highlighting the significance of the archaeological work conducted by the Royal Commission for al-Ula.

Saudia celebrated the Museum in the Sky flight at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh before takeoff. The special occasion logo was displayed on the check-in screen, and the celebration extended to al-Fursan lounge. Departing guests received a commemorative boarding pass featuring the 'Museum in the Sky' logo at the departure gate. Passengers on the flight were offered the opportunity to book tickets for the 'Hegra After Dark' experience.

Documentary on human civilization in al-Ula

The Museum in the Sky coincided with the launch of Saudia's new in-flight entertainment (IFE) channel, "Discover Saudi Arabia," where guests watched the Discovery Channel documentary Architects of Ancient Arabia. Released in 2021 and produced by Powderhouse, this documentary explores the foundational beginnings of human civilization in al-Ula. During the flight, information about the documentary and explanations of the artifacts displayed in the flying museum were provided, and guests' questions were answered.
