It is a linear park that extends for about 135 km across Riyadh, connecting Wadi as-Salai in the east with Wadi Hanifah in the west. The park is one of Riyadh's ambitious projects launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on March 19, 2019. It includes open green spaces spanning 4.2 million m, investment areas of a total of 2.3 million m, and eight diverse zones featuring landmarks and centers that serve all segments of society.
The project enables millions of amateurs and professionals to host sports tournaments and activities. It comprises fifty sports facilities, a sports tower with numerous courts for various sports and games, such as football and volleyball, stables and horseback riding trails, and dedicated cycling trails, in addition to safe, tree-lined pathways for pedestrians along the entire length of the project. The Sports Boulevard aims to boost Riyadh City's ranking among global cities by achieving the highest standards for quality of life and encouraging residents to engage in different sports.
