The Tarjim Initiative is one of the initiatives of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, launched in October 2020. It aims to support the translation movement, enrich Arabic content with high-value translated materials from various languages, and empower Saudi translators. The initiative operates through two tracks: the first is the Academic Journals Track, and the second is the Translation Grants Track.

The Tarjim Initiative, announced by the Ministry of Culture, aims to achieve several objectives, including the high-quality publication of Arabic works for a global audience and enriching Arabic content with translated materials of scientific and literary value from world languages. Additionally, it seeks to serve the Arabic language through translation both into and from Arabic, supporting researchers and scholars by providing translated materials of scientific and literary significance, and promoting international cultural exchange efforts. In 2022, through the Tarjim Initiative, the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission offered five hundred 'Translation Grants' in its second edition to Saudi publishing houses, supporting authors, translators, and publishers in the Kingdom to enrich Arabic content with high-value translated materials.
