Hala Saad al-Haid is a Saudi academic, animator, and director of animated films, and a faculty member at King Saud University in Riyadh. Her short films have been showcased at several film festivals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region, such as the Saudi Film Festival, Zayed University Middle East Film Festival in Abu Dhabi, and the Original Narrative Film Festival at the American University in Dubai.
Hala al-Haid's academic qualifications
Hala al-Haid obtained a bachelor's degree in mass communication in audiovisual media from King Saud University in 2016. She attended a three-dimensional (3D) animation workshop at the New York Film Academy in 2016 and earned a Master of Fine Arts in 3D animation and motion arts from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, in 2021.
Hala al-Haid's professional life
In 2016, Hala al-Haid worked as a trainee in the television and radio sector at the Saudi Broadcasting Authority. She then moved to work at Added Values Company as a video editor and animation designer from 2016 to 2017. In 2018, she volunteered at the Future of Storytelling studio in New York. Since December 2017, she has been a faculty member at King Saud University.
Hala al-Haid's films and exhibitions
Hala al-Haid participated in the Photography and Design Exhibition at King Saud University from 2009 to 2014 . She took part in the Naqsh Short Film Festival in Bahrain in 2014 and the Short Film Festival at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center in the United Arab Emirates in 2014.
In 2016, she participated in Zayed University Middle East Film Festival (ZUMEFF) with her film "The Dark Cloud" in the animation category. She also participated in the Pratt Institute Exhibition in New York, USA, in 2018. She also showcased her film "Palm Witch" at the Saudi Film Festival in Dhahran in 2021.
