The National Center for Industrial and Mining Information is a government center that aims to be the accurate and reliable source of industrial and mining information in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It works to integrate and connect data and information on the industrial and mining sectors in the Kingdom, ensuring the quality of the data, and providing statistics and reports on these sectors. The center was established by a ministerial decision issued by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
The National Center for Industrial and Mining Information initiative was initially adopted as part of the National Transformation Program, and later transitioned to the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program "NIDLP".
Objectives of the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information
The National Center for Industrial and Mining Information aims to be a trusted hub for industrial and mining knowledge in the Kingdom, supporting the shift towards an integrated and competitive industrial and mining ecosystem. It seeks to strengthen the industrial and mining sectors by enhancing transparency in the industrial and mining markets and boosting the confidence of investors and decision-makers.
Mandates of the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information
The National Center for Industrial and Mining Information is committed to several mandates, including:
- Establishing policies related to industrial and mining information, and developing plans and programs for their implementation.
- Proposing draft legislation related to its areas of expertise and completing the necessary legal procedures.
- Collecting, classifying, and identifying industrial and mining statistical data, information, and indicators needed from entities involved in the industrial and mining sectors, as well as from ongoing industrial and mining projects, ensuring their comprehensiveness. It also develops rules and mechanisms for information exchange and coordinates with entities according to technical systems that provide information to relevant entities and facilitate data integration.
- Gathering data on national products and consumed industrial materials, as well as imports to the Kingdom, future demand, and unifying product coding based on technical specifications and in line with the GS1 Saudi Arabia and global standards. This links data with local manufacturers and contributes to localizing industries for imported goods, increasing the percentage of local content.
- Developing plans and initiatives to enhance integration for building a comprehensive database for the Industrial Observatory, ensuring the quality, adequacy, and comprehensiveness of data, and coordinating with relevant authorities to create a unified electronic registry.
- Developing policies for the dissemination, classification, and confidentiality of information about the industrial and mining sectors.
- Developing technical standards and databases for industrial and mining information.

The center has introduced several initiatives, including the Establishment and Operation of the National Center for Industrial Information, the Industrial and Mining Information Analysis and Foresight Initiative, the Digital Services Platform for the Industrial Investor Journey, the E-Marketplace for Industrial Products, the National Product Coding Initiative, and the National Product Registry Initiative.
