The University of Business and Technology 'UBT' is a private Saudi university, established in Jeddah Governorate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2000 under the name 'Institute of Business Administration.' In 2012, it was officially accredited as a university, offering undergraduate and graduate programs.
History of UBT
UBT was established in 2000 as the 'Institute of Business Administration, IBA,' offering business administration diplomas for both male and female students. In 2003, it transitioned into the 'College of Business Administration, CBA,' and began offering six educational programs. In 2008, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program was introduced, and the Ministry of Higher Education (currently the Ministry of Education) approved the establishment of the College of Engineering, followed by the College of Advertising in 2011.
In 2012, the Saudi Higher Education Council (currently Council of Universities' Affairs) accredited the transformation of CBA into the University of Business and Technology, UBT. Additionally, the College of Law was established in 2017. In 2018, the Ministry of Education approved offering five master's degree programs within the College of Business Administration.
Location of UBT
UBT's main campus, the 'Male Students Section,' is located in Dhahban, forty km north of Jeddah Governorate. It encompasses all the colleges in addition to supporting deanships, the English Language Academy, student dorms, sports and recreation facilities, bookstores, restaurants, coffee shops, and the Main Mosque. The Female Students Section, known as 'Jeddah Campus,' is located in Jeddah Governorate, encompassing four colleges, deanships, sports and recreation facilities, and a bookstore.
Colleges at UBT
The university comprises four colleges offering undergraduate programs. The first is the College of Business Administration, CBE, which offers nine majors; namely Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Analytics and Management Information Systems, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Insurance and Risk Management, Retail Management, and Sports Management. The second is the College of Engineering, CE, which offers seven programs and twenty-nine tracks; namely Majors in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Safety Engineering. The third is the College of Advertising, JCA, which offers three majors; namely Advertising Communications, Advertising Management, and Advertising Creative Design. The fourth is the College of Law, CL. Additionally, three graduate studies programs are offered; namely Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Engineering Management (MEM), and Master of Sciences (M.SC).
