The Emirate of Tabuk Province is one of the emirates of the thirteen provinces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, organizationally affiliated with the Ministry of Interior. The emirate was established in 1925 after the unification of the Kingdom. The first person to hold the position of the province's Governor at the time was Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz al-Shuhail in 1925, and he served until 1930.

The location of the Emirate of Tabuk Province

The Emirate of Tabuk Province conducts its business from its headquarters in Tabuk City, located on King Abdullah Road, which is about eight km from Tabuk Airport, and adopts the visual identity of the Ministry of Interior as its logo. Prince Fahd Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz is the incumbent Governor of Tabuk Province and has been since 1987.

Tasks of the Emirate of Tabuk Province

The main tasks of the Emirate of Tabuk Province encompass coordinating and collaborating with government entities during planning stages to ensure services are provided to all citizens and residents. This comes in addition to receiving their complaints, looking into their concerns, striving to meet their demands, and resolving their issues. The emirate also focuses on maintaining security, overseeing the delivery of justice within the province, ensuring the efficacy and efficiency of services provided to the province's inhabitants, and working to enhance and develop services.

Governorates and centers of Tabuk Province

The Emirate of Tabuk Province oversees six governorates. According to the Law of Provinces issued in 1992, amended by a Royal Decree in 1994, each emirate consists of several governorates, divided into two categories: (A) and (B), in addition to several centers. This division took into consideration the residential, geographical, and security conditions, transportation routes, environmental circumstances, and the historical status of each governorate. Tabuk Province includes Category (A) governorates: al-Wajh, Duba, and Tayma. In addition, it includes three Category (B) governorates: Ummlujj, Haql, and al-Badʻ. Altogether, they comprise approximately eighty-three centers.

Area and population of Tabuk Province

Tabuk Province covers an area of approximately 136,000 km, which represents about 6.9 percent of the Kingdom's total area. It has a population of around 886,036 people, according to the 2022 Saudi Census, which is equivalent to approximately 2.8 percent of the Kingdom's population. The population density in the province is approximately six people per km of its territory.
