Archaeological sites in the Heritage Town of Uyun al-Jiwa

The Heritage Town of Uyun al-Jiwa in the Kingdom is home to several archaeological and historical landmarks. Among these is the Old Mosque with its distinct pillars connected by geometrically carved and ornate arches. It's characterized by its spacious layout, tall ceilings, and unique archways. Adjacent to the mosque stands a circular minaret, the Sarhah—an open-air space for night prayers designed in a similar style—and al-Katateeb School, a small annex attached to the Old Mosque traditionally used for educational purposes.

The Heritage Town also includes the Majlis, an old traditional market situated near the Old Mosque. This market consisted of around fifty shops that showcased a variety of goods, from livestock and agricultural products to clarified butter. Given the strategic location of al-Qassim Province on the caravan route, the traditional market witnessed significant trade activities. It served the northwestern areas of al-Qassim and stands as a representation of the large markets typical in the major Najdi villages.
