Zaher Mohammed al-Shehri (November 21, 1975) has been a member of the Shura Council in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since October 20, 2020. He is also a member of the Human Resources and Social Development Committee in the council.

Upbringing, education, and academic qualifications of Zaher al-Shehri

Born in Dhahran City in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom, Zaher al-Shehri joined King Abdulaziz University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration in 1998. He then pursued higher studies and obtained a Master of Business Administration 'MBAE' from King Abdulaziz University in 2007. Following this, he attended Flinders University in Australia, where he received a Master's degree in Tourism Management in 2010.

Professional life of Zaher al-Shehri

Zaher al-Shehri worked as a commercial subjects teacher at the Secondary Commercial Institute in al-Bahah from 1999 to 2006. He then served as a cooperative training supervisor for students of the Secondary Commercial Institute in al-Bahah in the private sector and some government agencies from 2000 to 2006. He was appointed Head of the Development and Training Unit at the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training in al-Bahah from 2006 to 2008. He also held the positions of Head of Department and Director of Units at the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and Director of the Secondary Industrial Institute in al-Bahah from 2011 to 2015. Additionally, he worked as a part-time consultant and trainer with the National Institute of Entrepreneurship for feasibility study projects for small and medium business owners in al-Baha province from 2011 to 2015. He was a member of the Professional Advisory Council at the University Administrative Colleges at al-Bahah University, Chairman of the Tourism, Antiquities, and Agriculture Committee for al-Husam Prize for Creativity and Excellence in 2019, and a member of al-Bahah Province Council from 2016 to 2019.

Zaher al-Shehri's activities

Zaher al-Shehri participated in the Second Rural Symposium in al-Bahah Province with a working paper titled 'Elements of the Tourist Destination in the Tourism System.' He also presented a working paper at the Mountain Tourism Urbanism Forum in Aseer Province, the Kingdom, titled 'The Future of Tourism in Mountain Areas: Tourism Development Strategy, Tourism Investment, and Experiences.' Additionally, he took part in the Fourth European-Asian Tourism Conference in Germany, the Effective Executive Management of a Training Facility in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and the Excellence in Personnel Management and Team Leadership Conference in Barcelona, Spain.

Zaher al-Shehri's publications

He authored the book 'The South Korean Experience in Educational and Economic Development, The Miracle of the Han River' in 2015.

Zaher al-Shehri's awards

Zaher al-Shehri received the Annual Performance Excellence Award from the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (currently the Ministry of Tourism). He was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Governor of al-Bahah Province for his contribution to the development studies of al-Bahah Province. He also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage for the success of the Ninth Saudi Travel and Tourism Investment Forum. Additionally, he was given a letter of thanks and appreciation from the Governor of al-Bahah Province for his efforts in making the activities and programs of al-Bahah Summer Festival a success.
