His Royal Highness Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz al Saud (born on 14 September 1945) is one of the sons of the founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud. He worked in the Royal Saudi Air Force before taking over several positions in the country, including the Emirate of Hail Province, then the al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province, his presidency of general intelligence, and his appointment as Second Deputy Prime Minister, then his appointment as Deputy Crown Prince, then a Crown Prince. He continued in this position until he was exempted at his request. He also represented the Kingdom in many regional and international events and meetings.

Life of Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz

He was born in Riyadh and grew up under the care of his father, King Abdulaziz. He received his education at the Model Capital Institute in Riyadh. After graduating in 1964, he joined the Royal Saudi Air Force and pursued further studies in the United Kingdom. In 1968, he graduated with the rank of flight lieutenant.

In 1969, Prince Muqrin underwent advanced training courses in fighter aircraft at Dhahran Air Base. In 1973, he attended an instructor course in the United Kingdom. The following year, in 1974, he enrolled in a staff officer course in the United States and obtained a diploma equivalent to a master's degree.

Prince Muqrin had diverse interests in several fields, including agriculture and related research. He also had a keen interest in astronomy and astronomical observations. Furthermore, he was an avid reader, exploring various areas of knowledge. He possessed a personal library that comprised approximately ten thousand books. Additionally, he had a particular interest in Arabic poetry. His extensive knowledge and broad intellectual interests have been evident through his participation in public and private seminars and meetings.

Military service of Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz

He served in the Royal Saudi Air Force in the Second Squadron of Aviation from 1970 until 1973. Later, he worked in the Third Squadron as a Lightning aircraft trainer. He was appointed as the commander of the Seventh Fighter Squadron in the Royal Saudi Air Force. In 1977, he was appointed as an assistant to the Director of Air Operations and the Chief of the Operations and Planning Department in the Royal Saudi Air Force.

Positions held by Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz

A royal decree was issued on March 18, 1980 appointing Prince Muqrin as the Prince of Hail Province. He served in this position for twenty years, during which the region witnessed development in urban, cultural, and agricultural sectors. He also chaired several councils and associations during his tenure. On November 29, 1999, a royal decree appointed him as the Prince of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province.

On October 22, 2005, Prince Muqrin became the head of the General Intelligence Presidency. Later, he was appointed as an advisor and special envoy to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on July 19, 2012.

On February 1, 2013, a royal decree was issued appointing him Second Deputy Prime Minister. Later, on March 27, 2014, he was chosen as the Deputy Crown Prince and maintained his position as the Second Deputy Prime Minister. When the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud took office on January 23, 2015, Prince Muqrin starred as Crown Prince. A Royal Decree was issued to appoint him as Deputy Prime Minister. On 29 April 2015, a Royal Decree was issued to exempt Prince Muqrin from the Crown Prince, and from the position of Deputy Prime Minister, at his request.
