Yes, there are artificial islands in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. One example is the islands created in Manifa Oil Field in the Eastern Province. More than 70 percent of the Manifa Oil Field in the Arabian Gulf was converted into an onshore field with a unique design that included the creation of twenty-seven artificial islands, each equivalent in size to the total area of ten football fields.
All the islands in the field area were created using forty-five million m of sand extracted from the seabed, serving as onshore drilling sites over the offshore oil field. They are connected by a forty-one km long sea bridge.
