National Institute for Educational Professional Development

The National Institute for Educational Professional Development is the entity responsible for supporting the professionalization of public education and elevating the level of professional educational practices to a professional standard in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers in 2019, and its headquarters is in the capital, Riyadh.

The National Institute for Educational Professional Development aims to build an efficient and highly effective professional development system for the education sector, support its implementation, and organize professional development processes and programs. It seeks to enhance sustainable professional development in the educational sector by creating diverse professional pathways and development channels and preparing educational leaders by identifying, attracting, and training them.

The National Institute for Educational Professional Development undertakes several roles to achieve its objectives, including: ensuring the quality of professional development in the educational sector by setting and formulating policies and controls related to practicing professional development in educational sectors in order to ensure their application. It conducts scientific studies and research on professional development in the educational sector in partnership with specialized research centers, provides consultations related to professional development to educational authorities in public education, and designs special programs for practitioners of teaching, professional development, and educational leadership. The institute also accredits non-qualification professional development programs for various education practitioners, performs periodic reviews and evaluations of the performance of professional development centers in educational sectors, and licenses professional development service providers in the educational sector.
