The National Industrial Training Institute (NITI) is one of the institutes under the Saudi Center for International Strategic Partnerships in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is a non-profit training facility specializing in qualifying Saudi youth through vocational diplomas and training programs in various industrial specializations. NITI aims to meet the needs of the local industrial market, enhance community development, support the Saudization efforts of various national sectors, and contribute to reducing unemployment levels.
Establishment of the National Industrial Training Institute
The National Industrial Training Institute was established in al-Ahsa Governorate, Eastern Province, in 2014. It is the result of a strategic partnership between Saudi Aramco and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). It is financially supported by key participating entities entitled to membership in the institute's Board of Trustees. The institute is situated on a land area of 365,000 m² allocated by Aramco.
Objectives of the National Industrial Training Institute
The National Industrial Training Institute aims to achieve several objectives, including reducing unemployment levels in the Kingdom, supporting the Saudization of various local sectors, contributing to economic development, meeting the growing demand for young Saudi professionals in industrial and vocational fields, and equipping them with knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes. Additionally, it seeks to benefit from the developments and outputs of the Oil and Petrochemical industries in the Kingdom.
National Industrial Training Institute programs
The National Industrial Training Institute offers training programs in more than ten industrial technical specializations, including electrical systems operator, chemical operator, crane operator, oil and gas operator, communications technician, electrical maintenance technician, mechanical maintenance technician, precision instrument technician, HVAC technician, welding technician, and chemical laboratory technician. Additionally, it provides a major industrial training program to qualify high school graduates for work in the oil and gas, petrochemical, energy, and construction industries
It also offers five technical training programs, which teach the curricula of the Saudi Aramco Academy, which it has developed specifically to meet its trainee needs. The programs span two years. The first year covers general academic subjects such as English, office work, science, mathematics, computer skills, safety, and other extracurricular programs and activities, along with technical and vocational training. The second year focuses on one of the five fields: mechanical maintenance, field metals mechanic, maintenance electrician, basic operator, refinery operator, and process control systems technician. Additionally, the institute conducts follow-up studies of graduates to assess the application of their knowledge in their roles.
Application at the National Industrial Training Institute
Applying to the programs at the National Industrial Training Institute requires that the applicant be no older than twenty-four years, have a general aptitude test score of at least 65 percent, and a high school average of 75 percent or above. Additionally, the program must be sponsored by an employer.
