The King Khalid Award for Non-Profit Organizations Excellence is organized by the King Khalid Foundation, aiming to honor and stimulate outstanding administrative performance of non-profit organizations. Its goal is to raise the mindset associated with increasing positive impact by promoting social responsibility within Saudi society.

An overview

The award falls under the category of Non-Profit Organizations Excellence within the King Khalid Foundation awards, alongside the social initiatives award and private sector facilities within the Kingdom. It targets innovative solutions in serving society, encourages finding an environment conducive to giving, and promotes sustainable development.

The award was launched in 2013 and targeted non-profit organizations, including charitable institutions and associations. It required that participating organizations be registered with the National Center for Non-Profit Sector for three years or more.

The award stands out for providing participating organizations with a comprehensive and integrated review of their management performance. This task is undertaken by an independent consulting entity, which is given priority in participating in workshops. Participants also have the opportunity to attend the awards distribution celebration held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Awards

The award has allocated honorary prizes to the winners. The first-place winner receives a gold shield and an amount of SAR500,000, while the second-place winner receives a silver shield and an amount of SAR300,000. The third-place winner is awarded a bronze shield, along with an amount of SAR200,000.

Terms and criteria for applying for the award

The award accepts applications from institutions and charities only in person, ensuring adherence to the nomination request deadline. Nominations must be submitted through the award’s electronic portal. Institutions or charitable associations that have won in previous editions are not eligible for nomination until one edition has passed since the date of receiving the award.

The King Khalid Award for Non-Profit Organizations Excellence has set nomination criteria through an evaluation mechanism based on analysis of administrative performance. These criteria include strategy, vision, mission, goals and objectives, information technology, human resources, communication and resource development, governance, performance and impact measurement, and financial management investment.
