The Literature Everywhere Initiative is a Saudi initiative that supports creators of literary content of all kinds. It was launched by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission under the Ministry of Culture. The initiative aims to display literary content in public spaces, allowing visitors to benefit from their waiting times through a virtual platform.
How the initiative works
The Literature Everywhere Initiative operates through two tracks: The short story track and the Literature Cloud. The first track, short story track, is a digital library that includes a collection of short stories that can be printed instantly using a thermal printer and eco-friendly paper. Readers can choose print durations ranging from one to five minutes, with stories not exceeding one thousand words. The second track, Literature Cloud, offers audio content (podcasts and audiobooks) in both Arabic and English. It provides visitors with listening options of (fifteen, twenty, thirty, or forty-five minutes) of diverse literary content, accessible by scanning a (QR) code with smartphones and tablets.
The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission provides the opportunity for institutions, companies, publishing houses, content producers, and authors to submit their short stories or audio literary content for the public. The commission handles the distribution through a virtual platform accessible to visitors in public spaces.
The initiative's objectives
Enhancing reading skills and habits among Saudi society members is one of the goals of the Literature Everywhere Initiative. Additionally, it aims to raise awareness, educate readers and listeners, and disseminate the works of Saudi authors across the Kingdom. The initiative promotes their creativity, writings, and knowledge content through the Literature Everywhere Initiative page on the Ministry of Culture's website, reaching the widest possible audience.
