Dar al-Madinah Museum specializes in the history and urban and cultural heritage of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province. It was founded by Abdulaziz Kaki, a native of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, and was inaugurated in 2011.

The museum houses around two thousand items, including archaeological artifacts, highly detailed models, handicrafts, documents, correspondences, ancient literature, postage stamps, photographs, and fine arts.
The museum consists of two main sections: the Hall of the Prophet's Sirah and the Hall of Urban and Cultural Heritage. It also includes a hospitality hall, an outdoor garden, a heritage bazaar, and the museum store.
The sections of the museum narrate the history of the establishment of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province and its historical development, detailing the sequential events leading up to the arrival of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him (PBUH). They also highlight the landmarks of the Prophet's Sirah, the route of the migration, and the stages of establishing al-Madinah al-Munawwarah by the Prophet (PBUH), along with his honorable Sirah.
The museum contains rare artifacts that reflect the historical significance of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province, including various parts of the covering of al-Kaaba al-Musharrafa (Al-Kaaba's Kiswa) throughout Islamic history, rare coins that were circulated in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah over different ages, from the prophetic era to the present, and a collection of pottery pieces dating back to the eighth Umayyad period, as well as some Islamic manuscripts, jewelry, and rare artifacts from the pre-Islamic period. It also displays antiques, clothing, and items derived from the ancient heritage of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. Furthermore, the museum is committed to regularly publishing books and research on the architectural heritage and landmarks of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah.
Exploring the social life experience in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah
The museum offers visitors an experience to explore the old social life in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. It features Miskayat Ashour, which represents the old coffeehouse system in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. There is also a special section dedicated to the foundation of the Prophet's Mosque, showcasing events and strategies of the prophetic battles. The museum also addresses the history of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, its historical and architectural landmarks, and its cultural and social civilization up to the present.
Achievements of Dar al-Madinah Museum
The museum has obtained several awards, including the King Faisal International Prize for Islamic Studies and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Award for Studies and Research on the History of the Arabian Peninsula.
