University of Jeddah is a Saudi government university and one of the fourteen universities established during the reign of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud. Its beginnings trace back to King Abdulaziz University, with the College of Education established in 1974, serving as the first nucleus of the university.

Establishment of the University of Jeddah

The main campus is located on Asfan Road in Jeddah, with its eight branches distributed as follows: six in the neighborhoods of Jeddah and two in the governorates of Khulais and al-Kamil.

The University of Jeddah was established on April 2, 2014. It is one of three universities whose establishment orders were issued simultaneously, including the University of Jeddah, the University of Bisha, and the University of Hafar Al Batin.

The university is known for its accelerated academic programs. It is the first government university to adopt the concept of academic acceleration for talented students through the Accelerated Academic Program. It is also the first government university to allow students to register for preparatory year courses from high school through the Dual Enrollment program. Additionally, it provides its students with the opportunity to reserve a seat in the desired college during the preparatory year without competition through the Direct Allocation Program. The university offers modern colleges with unique specializations.

Colleges of the University of Jeddah

The university comprises twenty-two colleges, making it one of the top ten universities in Saudi Arabia in terms of the number of colleges. Starting with the Talent Attraction and Sponsorship Program for the academic year 2019/2020, the total number of students in the program reached 13,227 male and female students, including 7,219 students who were accepted into the university. The total number of its students in 2020, according to statistics, was approximately 26,444 male and female students.

The logo of the University of Jeddah consists of the waves of the Red Sea, which simultaneously represent the university's name in Arabic and its abbreviation in English. It also incorporates the university's establishment date and the symbol of smart universities in the first wave. The second wave features the symbols of two swords and a palm tree, which symbolize the national identity, topped by lines that symbolize effective partnerships. Finally, there is a network that represents future-oriented specializations. In its vision, the university aspires to be the first choice for future leaders.

Ultimately, the goal is to position Jeddah University as the top choice for both male and female students.

Developing budget management strategies and seeking innovative approaches to reduce the cost of student education while upholding the highest quality standards.
