Yes, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia produces essential oils, particularly in provinces such as Jazan, Makkah al-Mukarramah (specifically Taif Governorate), and al-Bahah.
Jazan Province is famous for cultivating aromatic plants, such as jasmine, which, alongside other aromatic plants like screwpine, daffodil, marjoram, wormwood, mugworts, and bulrush, constitute cultural and social heritage. These plants are traditionally associated with weddings, feasts, welcoming guests, celebrating births, and are considered high-value gifts presented to guests in Jazan on various occasions. According to statistics from the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture branch, the number of jasmine farms in Jazan Province exceeds 950. Some of these farms contain hundreds of productive jasmine plants, while others have thousands, depending on the size of the farm and the capacity of each farmer. Additionally, "jasmine trellises" are a common feature at the entrances and courtyards of homes, a tradition passed down by the locals for hundreds of years.
In Taif Governorate, there are over 910 farms dedicated to Taif roses. Around seventy rose factories and workshops work on extracting and manufacturing more than eighty different products derived from roses for the production of various aromatic products. Meanwhile, al-Bahah Province is an ideal place for cultivating some of the best types of roses, which are popular in both local and international markets. The investments in Taif roses in the Saudi market exceed SAR64 million. Annually, about 550 million roses are harvested from the farms in the Sarawat Mountains of Taif Governorate.
