Abdulfattah Bin Sulaiman Mashat is the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah with the rank of Excellency. He was appointed by a Royal Order on October 3, 2017. He holds a PhD in Computer Science and is a member and advisor in several university boards both in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and internationally. He specializes in the design and implementation of key performance indicators for university activities.

He obtained his undergraduate degree in Science from King Abdulaziz University in 1989. About ten years later, he completed his master's and PhD studies in Computer Science at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.

The early career of Abdulfattah Mashat

Mashat began his professional career in the educational field, serving as the Dean of the Deanship of Admissions and Registration at King Abdulaziz University. During that period, he developed and implemented an advanced electronic computer program called "Odus Plus." This program allows students to register electronically, as well as to add and drop courses, monitor their academic progress, and access a number of digital and electronic functions and features.

After serving as the Dean of the Admissions and Registration Deanship, Mashat became the Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at King Abdulaziz University. He later became its Vice President for Development. He led the faculty to obtain academic accreditation for its three programs through the American ABET organization. Additionally, he oversaw several international scientific meetings, focusing on strengthening the local and global cooperation frameworks of the faculty.

Administrations assumed by Abdulfattah Mashat

Abdulfattah Mashat managed university activities related to continuous improvement, planning, measurement, and implementation. As the Vice President for Development at the university, his duties included overseeing several units, departments, centers, and deanships. These included the Department of Social Responsibility and Community Service, the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education, the Center for the Development of University Education, the Department of Academic Accreditation, the Deanship of Library Affairs, the Department of Measurement and Evaluation, the Department of Cultural Relations, and the Department of Quality.

Interests of Abdulfattah Mashat

Abdulfattah Mashat focused on improving university rankings globally and achieving academic accreditations at both programmatic and institutional levels. He excelled in designing and implementing key performance indicators for various university activities. He was selected to participate in several scientific boards of Saudi universities and served as an advisor to some local and international universities. In 2017, he was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah.
