Osama Bin Ahmed Nugali (born in 1958) has been the ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Arab Republic of Egypt since April 17, 2018, and the permanent representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the League of Arab States. He served as undersecretary for Public Diplomacy Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and held several positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Moreover, Nugali represented the Kingdom in many official delegations and international meetings.

His career

In 1980, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah City. Then, in 1983, he obtained a diploma in diplomatic studies from the Institute for Diplomatic Studies.

His positions

In 1981, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and worked as a diplomatic attache, and practiced diplomatic work in various fields. He worked in the ministry's agencies specialized in international economic and political relations, as well as international organizations, and consulates. In 1986, he joined the minister's office for media affairs.

Nugali joined the Kingdom's Embassy in Washington in 1988, and worked as Deputy Director of the Media Office, then became Director of the Media Office. After his return from the United States of America in 1997, he was appointed Director of the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Media Affairs until 2018. The decision to appoint him as Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was issued after the ministry's establishment. On April 17, 2018, a Royal Order was issued appointing him as the Kingdom’s ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and as the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the League of Arab States.

Official participations

During his tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he participated in a number of official delegations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs in meetings at the bilateral and multilateral levels of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as European Union meetings, and regional and international meetings.

Nugali participated as a member of the delegation accompanying the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the official visits of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince at the bilateral levels. He also attended Islamic, Gulf, and Arab summits, as well as high-level meetings of the United Nations General Assembly.

He represented the Kingdom in a number of regional and international forums. For example, he has been participating since 1985 in the 'The Kingdom: Yesterday and Today' Exhibition held in Egypt, the United States of America, and Canada. Nugali was appointed as a representative of the Kingdom's embassy in Washington and served as a member of the committee formed by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation in the 1994 FIFA World Cup, in the first participation of the Saudi national team in the World Cup. Moreover, he represented the embassy in the Kingdom’s participation meetings in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Memberships

He served as a member of several local authorities, such as the Saudi Broadcasting Authority and the Saudi Press Agency. Other memberships include the Scientific Advisory Board, the 'UNESCO Chair in Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue', the Children with Disability Association, and the Advisory Board of the Salam Project for Cultural Communication.
