Jabal al-Lawz or Jibal al-Lawz is a mountain range located in Tabuk Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, within the geographical boundaries of NEOM area. It rises to an elevation of 2,549 m above sea level and experiences snowfall almost every winter. It is named after the almond trees found in it.
Tourism in Jibal al-Lawz
Jibal al-Lawz are a distinctive tourist destination for hiking and adventure enthusiasts. Tourist activities are organized there during the winter season, including driving along its mountain roads and hiking in the snow. Traces of several ancient civilizations have been documented there, including rock drawings, some dating back to about ten thousand years BC, as well as ancient inscriptions and Islamic writings.
Jibal al-Lawz peaks
Several peaks branch out from Jibal al-Lawz, the highest of which is Jabal Fayhan. Its mountains are composed of granite rocks surrounded by mostly sandy terrain. From these mountains, a series of valleys and ravines descend, feeding Wadi Afal from the west, Wadi Reem from the south, and Wadi al-Abyad from the north.
Location of Jibal al-Lawz
Jibal al-Lawz are located northeast of al-Bad' Governorate, approximately two hundred km northwest of the city of Tabuk, the administrative capital of Tabuk Province. It is bordered to the north by the Tabuk-Haql Road and to the west by al-Sharaf-al-Bad' Road. It is the highest peak of the Midian Mountains, extending from south of latitude twenty-eight degrees north to the border with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
