Establishment

The Prince Khalid al-Faisal Institute for Moderation originated from a lecture delivered by the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah al-Mukarramah Province, Khalid al-Faisal, titled "The Foundation of the Saudi Moderation Approach" at King Abdulaziz University in 2009. King Abdulaziz University took the initiative to establish a research chair for this approach, develop its strategic visions, and organize its cultural and scientific plans to promote the concepts of moderation within various segments of society.

In 2016, Prince Khalid al-Faisal approved the transformation of the chair into the "Prince Khalid al-Faisal Center for Moderation." In 2018, the center's name was changed to the Prince Khalid al-Faisal Institute for Moderation at King Abdulaziz University.
