Al-Rass is one of the governorates in al-Qassim Province, located in the center of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is the third-most populous governorate in the province, with a population of 121,359 according to the 2022 Saudi Census. It consists of six centers: Dukhna, al-Shanana, al-Ghaydaniyah, al-Mutayah, al-Khuraisheh, and al-Dahlah.

Location of al-Rass Governorate

Al-Rass Governorate is located south of al-Qassim Province and north of the Riyadh region. It is approximately ninety km southeast of the regional capital, Buraydah. It is bordered to the east by the governorates of al-Midhnab al-Bada'i, to the west by Buraydah, and to the north by the Riyad al-Khabra Governorate.

Historical Landmarks in al-Rass Governorate

Al-Rass is home to prominent historical landmarks in al-Qassim Province, including the historical Athlah Palace to the east of al-Rass and the historical site of Milh al-Juraif to the south, which historically served as the main source of gunpowder for the locals. Additionally, there is the Martyrs' Cemetery, and the Prince's Gate Cabin to the east of the governorate; which is the last archaeological witness to the ancient walls that once surrounded al-Rass.
