Halat Ammar Port is a land port on the northern border of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is the third port that connects it to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, alongside the ports of al-Durrah and al-Haditha. Spanning about 745 km, it is located in Tabuk Province, in the center of Halat Ammar, near the border strip with Jordan.
Halat Ammar Port is one of the Kingdom's fourteen land border ports under the administration of the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Border Guard, and the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority. These ports connect the Kingdom to eight Gulf and Arab countries.
History of Halat Ammar Port
The area where the port is located was one of the points along the Levantine Hajj Route. To this day, the movement of travelers through Halat Ammar Port remains active during the annual Hajj and Umrah seasons. Therefore, a city for pilgrims was established, providing them with the necessary services and procedures. Twenty-seven civil and military departments and authorities participate in a comprehensive work system in the city of pilgrims at Halat Ammar Port during the Hajj season every year to facilitate all matters and procedures for pilgrims and guide them on the optimal ways to perform the pilgrimage. Since its opening, the city of pilgrims has been operating around the clock to welcome pilgrims, amidst preparations and readiness of all government agencies.
Development of Halat Ammar Port
Halat Ammar Port was developed in 2018 as part of the project of the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority to develop land and sea ports, boosting the economy in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The initial phases of operation for the developed facilities gradually began in the same year, and it is planned to have all facilities operational by 2023.
