The New King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Airport

The first phase of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Airport's construction project was inaugurated in 2014. The airport, which is scheduled to be completed in 2022, spans an area of 50,134,155 m and is located near the city of Jazan, which houses basic industries and the Aramco refinery. This makes it one of the most significant drivers pushing forward the economic and tourist development of Jazan Province. The new airport's initial capacity is set to accommodate 6.3 million passengers annually. It consists of thirty-nine buildings designed for future expansion. In contrast, the current airport has a capacity of nine hundred thousand passengers annually.

The new airport is equipped with five departure gates, with two bridges in each gate, making a total of ten passenger bridges connecting the aircraft to the airport. It includes various facilities, including the passenger terminal, the royal terminal, service buildings, parking areas, service and investment facilities, a cooling station, a wastewater treatment plant, a water tank, and a power building. Additionally, the airport is equipped with the latest operating and service systems to ensure the highest levels of comfort and security for passengers and to provide all necessary infrastructure facilities.
