The Saudi Polo Federation is the supervising federation for the polo teams of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It manages its tournaments, organizes its activities, and represents the Kingdom internationally in the sport.

It was established on June 24, 2018, with the approval of the chairmanship of the board of directors of the Saudi Olympic Committee. Its headquarters is located in the capital, Riyadh. It is a member of the Federation of International Polo and the Hurlingham Polo Association.

Saudi Polo Federation objectives

The Saudi Polo Federation works on developing strategies to increase the number of teams and players in the Kingdom, improve their technical and social levels, and encourage talented individuals in polo. It aims to spread the sport throughout the Kingdom, has launched a special program for women and various age groups, and has established an academy for those interested in joining to elevate polo sport in the Kingdom to competitive levels both regionally and internationally. The federation focuses on the sport as one of the oldest in the world played on trained horses to hit a wooden or plastic ball into the goal using a special mallet.

Saudi Polo Federation tournaments

The Saudi Polo Federation holds ongoing tournaments and events, such as the Saudi Polo Federation Cup Tournament, which commenced on September 24, 2020. It spans three rounds with the participation of three clubs: Al-Auja, Tuwayq, and al-Masmak. Al-Auja team was crowned champion of the tournament on December 18, 2020.

Al-Ula Desert Polo Tournament was launched on January 16, 2020, at the Desert Polo Arena in al-Ula Governorate. It is the first modern polo tournament to be held in a desert environment, with the participation of four teams: Amaala, al-Ula, Bentley, and Richard Mille Team. The Amaala team won first place.

The Richard Mille al-Ula Desert Polo Tournament was launched on February 11, 2022, and lasted for two days at al-Fursan Village field in al-Ula, with the participation of four teams: al-Ula, Richard Mille, Bentley, and Team Saudi. Al-Ula team won the championship.
