Al-Riyada College for Health Sciences is a Saudi college specializing in nursing. It is located in the city of Jeddah, in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established in 2006, with the participation of several hospitals in the city of Jeddah, according to the findings of the study conducted by the Economic and Social Department of Makkah Al-Mukarramah Province, where such findings revealed Saudi Arabia's need for qualified nurses among bachelor's degree holders. Throughout its first years of establishment, the college and the Scottish Queen Margaret University established a joint program designed according to evidence-based education and integrated sciences.

Nursing program at Al-Riyada College for Health Sciences

The nursing program offered by Al-Riyada College for Health Sciences culminates in granting the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The program supports diversity in learning and work environments. It prepares female students to work in several health fields, such as public health, critical care, mental health, nursing administration, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and nursing research.

The program is available for fresh graduates. It is based on practicum, accounting for 60 percent of it. It is practiced in hospitals as of the second term of the first academic year to qualify female students and empower them in their field of study. It is simultaneously offered with teaching English, administrative skills for field and office work, time management skills, and efficient communication skills.

Bridging program at Al-Riyada College for Health Sciences

Al-Riyada College for Health Sciences offers a bridging program targeting nurses working in private hospitals and the Ministry of Health among the diploma holders who seek to obtain a bachelor's degree. Female students are admitted upon meeting the college's determined criteria, where their study plan is devised upon achieving the courses' equivalence.

Postponement of study at Al-Riyada College for Health Sciences

The female student enrolled at Al-Riyada College for Health Sciences may postpone her studies upon submitting a reasonable excuse, provided that the period of postponement does not exceed two consecutive terms or three non-consecutive terms, where the college's council may exempt some cases as applicable. Should the female student interrupt her studies for two academic terms without submitting a request for postponement, she will be dismissed from the college.

The transfer of a female student who was previously enrolled in another college would be approved if the college or university from where the student is transferring is an accredited one, provided that the student is not dismissed from the later on disciplinary grounds, in addition to meeting the terms and conditions determined by the college's council. Upon accepting a student, the college's council establishes the equivalence of the courses studied in another entity and lists those courses under the student's academic transcript. However, they are not considered upon calculating the cumulative GPA.

Al-Riyada College for Health Sciences encompasses three student clubs: the Cultural Club, the Sport Club, and the Volunteering Club. These clubs are administratively affiliated with the Extracurricular Activities, Community Service, and Social Responsibility Unit of the college's Female Student Affairs Department.
