Al-Rajhi Mosque in Hail
Al-Rajhi Mosque in Hail, a mosque and a cultural landmark in the Hail Province in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,is located in Hail City, the administrative capital of the region, and is considered one of the largest mosques there.King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud laid its foundation stone during his visit to the Hail Province in 2006,and it was inaugurated in 2011.
Design
Al-Rajhi Mosque in Hail is an integrated Islamic center, built in an architectural style characterized by the abundance of domes and minarets. The mosque was constructed on a total area of 17,300 m2.The mosque is topped by four large minarets, each 80m high, and at its center is a large main dome whose internal diameter reaches about 31.5m, and inside the mosque there is a chandelier with a diameter of approximately 20m, and spread across its roof around the main dome are 50 domes of different sizes, in addition to semi-domes on the external facades.
Capacity
The mosque’s internal prayer hall accommodates four thousand worshippers, and its external courtyard accommodates three thousand worshippers. The mosque also includes a women’s prayer hall that accommodates around one thousand female worshippers.
Features
The mosque consists of two ground floors, each with an area of 7,500 m2. One includes a public library, retreat rooms, and a kitchen, while the other floor contains rooms dedicated to electromechanical services and a simultaneous interpretation room for Friday sermons. The mosque also has more than 120 indoor parking spaces, and the women’s prayer hall is located in its northern part.
The mosque features a comprehensive electronic control system, which includes an electrical control system for lighting and air conditioning that schedules the switching on and off of lights and air conditioning throughout the day, as well as a fire-fighting and safety system, a security surveillance system, and a digital audio system.
The mosque also includes a mortuary wash facility, a hospitality hall, the Jil Al Bayan building for children, and the Dar Al Bayan women’s building. The mosque offers educational programs, Islamic scholarly programs, programs for expatriate communities, and social programs.
