Abdullatif Alwasel
Abdullatif Abdulaziz Alwasel is the chief executive officer of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission under the Ministry of Culture, starting in 2024. Prior to this, he served as the general manager of the publishing department at the commission, where he supervised the organization of several book fairs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He also works as an assistant professor at King Saud University in Riyadh City.

Abdullatif Alwasel earned a bachelor's degree in biomedical technology from King Saud University in Riyadh in 2007. He obtained a master’s degree in systems design engineering in 2011 and a doctorate in systems design engineering in 2017 from the University of Waterloo in Canada.

Abdullatif Alwasel worked as an assistant professor of biomedical technology at the College of Applied Medical Sciences at King Saud University. He also served as the director of the biomedical technology program at the same university from 2018 to 2022. Additionally, he held several positions at the Center for Strategic Development and contributed to numerous scientific publications in the field of biotechnology, either independently or as part of a team.

Abdullatif Alwasel assumed the position of chief executive officer of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission as of November 18, 2024. Before that date, he managed several key initiatives within the commission, serving as the general manager of the publishing sector. He also oversaw the organization of several book fairs in Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh International Book Fair.
