His Excellency Mohammed Bin Abdullah al-Jadaan (born in 1963) has been the Minister of Finance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since November 1, 2016. Before undertaking the Ministry of Finance, he served as chairman of the Capital Market Authority from January 29, 2015, until November 1, 2016. He was tasked with the Ministry of Economy and Planning from March 2020 to May 2021.

His education

He graduated from Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh City, with a Bachelor's in Islamic Economy in 1986. Additionally, he obtained a postgraduate diploma in legal studies from the Institute of Public Administration in the capital Riyadh in 1998.

His positions

Between 2009 and 2015, Mohammed al-Jadaan served on and chaired several boards and authorities. He was appointed as the chairman of the Board of the Capital Market Authority on January 29, 2015. His tenure continued until a royal order was issued on October 31, 2016, appointing him to lead the Ministry of Finance. He was also assigned to the economy and planning portfolio from March 2020 to May 2021.

After assuming the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance, al-Jadaan chairs a number of councils and committees, including the Board of Directors of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Board of Directors of the State Properties General Authority, the Board of Directors of the Government Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority, the Board of Directors of the General Organization for Social Insurance, the Board of Directors of the Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers, the Board of Directors of the National Debt Management Center, the Board of Directors of the Non-Oil Revenues Development Center, the Board of Directors of the National Center for Privatization, the Board of Directors of the National Center for Government Resource Systems, the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Awqaf, the National Financial Stability Committee, the Financial Sector Development Program Committee, the Fiscal Sustainability Program Committee, and the Privatization Program Committee.

International committees

Al-Jadaan chairs a number of international committees and holds memberships therein, including the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the International Monetary Fund, the Ministerial Council of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund, the Board of Governors of the World Bank, the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank, and the Board of Governors of the Arab Bank for Economic and Social Development. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Arab Monetary Fund, the Board of Governors of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, the Board of Directors of the Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation, the Board of Governors of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, and the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

His memberships

Al-Jadaan holds memberships in a number of boards, including the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, the Board of Directors of the Public Investment Fund, the Board of Directors of the National Development Fund, the Board of Directors of Saudi Aramco, the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Military Industries, and the Board of Directors of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Statistics, the Board of Directors of the Digital Government Authority, and the Board of Directors of the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority.
