

His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (born in 1988) has been the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since September 27, 2022. He previously served as the Deputy Minister of Defense and the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States of America.

Education and Military Career:
Prince Khalid completed his general education at Riyadh School, graduating at the top of his class in 2006. Driven by his passion for the military and defense, he attended King Faisal Air Academy, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Air Science in 2009 and graduated as a Lieutenant pilot, after successfully completing his initial training at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and completing the following training program at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi.
Post graduate, Prince Khalid served as a pilot officer on F-15 Aircraft. He subsequently served as a planning officer and a tactical intelligence officer within the Royal Saudi Air Force. He was among the first Saudi pilots to participate in the international coalition's air sorties against ISIS in Syria, as well as in Operation Decisive Storm and Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen, logging approximately 1,000 flight hours.

Prince Khalid has completed numerous military and security training programs, including the Senior Executives in National and International Security course at Harvard University and the Advanced Electronic Warfare course in Paris, France.

Advisor at the Office of the Minister of Defense:
In 2015, Prince Khalid began working as an officer within the office of the Minister of Defense. This role allowed him to work closely with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the minister of defense then, providing him with an opportunity to gain deep insights into Prince Mohammed bin Salman's vision for modernizing the ministry. By 2016, he was appointed as a civilian advisor, where he was managing several pivotal files.
Ambassador to the United States:
In late 2016, Prince Khalid was appointed Counselor at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the United States. On April 22, 2017, a royal decree was issued then appointing him as the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States. He became the 10th Saudi Ambassador to the United States.
Vice Minister of Defense:
On February 22, 2019, Prince Khalid was appointed by royal decree as Vice Minister of Defense, in order to contribute to achieving the leadership's vision for the military and defense.
Minister of Defense:
After a distinguished career in military, security, and political affairs, and as a reflection of the leadership's confidence, a royal decree was issued on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, appointing Prince Khalid bin Salman as Minister of Defense. He assumed responsibility for leading the ministry through a period of significant national transformation, continuing the modernization program initiated and led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
