Mastoura Obaid Al-Shammari (born on July 20, 1974) is a former member of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She assumed several positions at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University.

Academic qualifications of Mastoura Al-Shammari

In 2000, Mastoura Al-Shammari earned a bachelor's degree in Islamic Dawah from the College of Dawah and Media at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh. She also received a master's degree in curricula and teaching methods from the College of Social Sciences at the same university in 2005, ultimately receiving a doctorate in the philosophy of education, specializing in Islamic sciences (Sharia) curricula and teaching methods, from the College of Education at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, in Riyadh, in 2011.

Career of Mastoura Al-Shammari

Between 2010 and 2012, Mastoura Al-Shammari assumed several positions at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University when it was named Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz University. She worked as a lecturer at the Department of Educational Sciences of the College of Education in ad-Dilam, an assistant professor at the Department of Educational Sciences, and the dean of the College of Education in ad-Dilam. She also worked as the deputy for educational and academic affairs at the College of Education and was delegated to the chairmanship of the Department of Educational Sciences of the College of Education. Between 1993 and 1996, she worked as a tutor at one of the schools affiliated with the Department of Education in Hafr al-Batin. Between 1996 and 2000, she assumed the position of director at one of the schools affiliated with the Department of Education in Hafr al-Batin. She became the deputy of the College of Education for Girls in Hafr al-Batin from 2000 to 2003, the deputy of the College of Education for Female Students Affairs in Hafr al-Batin in 2006, and the Director of the Department of Educational Affairs at the Department of Education in Hafr al-Batin in 2007.

Memberships of Mastoura Al-Shammari in councils and committees

Mastoura Al-Shammari became a chairwoman and assumed the membership of several committees at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University. She was the chairwoman of the fifth and sixth Female Team of Assessors within the scope of the Developmental Assessment Project. She also chaired the Planning and Development Committee of the Department of Education in ad-Dilam, the Nomination Committee for Teaching Assistants and Lecturers of the College of Education in ad-Dilam, and the Training Committee of the College of Education in ad-Dilam.

She was also a member of several committees and associations, including the Scientific Research Committee of the College of Education in ad-Dilam. She was a member of the University Education Development Center of Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University. She was a rapporteur for the Training and Development Committee of the College of Education, a member of the Faculty Disciplinary Committee, a member of the LOCS Team, a member of the Noble Quran Memorization Association in Hafr al-Batin, a member of the National Dialogue Committee, and a member of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Charitable Foundation and a member of the foundation's executive committee.

During her term at the Shura Council, spanning from January 15, 2013, to September 6, 2024, Mastoura Al-Shammari assumed the chairmanships and membership of several committees. She was the chairwoman of the Committee of Social, Family, and Youth Affairs and the deputy chairman of the same committee. She was a member of the Security Affairs Committee, a member of the Security and Military Affairs Committee, and a member of the Educational Affairs and Scientific Research Committee. She was also a member of the fifth committee of parliamentary friendship which includes parliaments from France, Austria, Belgium, the European Parliament, NATO, Luxembourg, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Chad, Congo, and Gabon. During her term at the Shura Council, she also became a member of the Arab Parliament. In 2020, she was elected as chairwoman of the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women, and Youth Affairs Committee of the Arab Parliament.

Mastoura Al-Shammari conducted several academic research and studies, including "The Assessment of Sharia Sciences Teachers Practices Application by Elementary School Tutors: Reflective Teaching as an Introduction to Professional Development" and "A Proposed Teaching Model Based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences in Development Conceptual Understanding of Hadith and some Intelligences" (2013).
