His Excellency Faisal Bin Fadhil Alibrahim has been the Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since May 3, 2021, and the chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Infrastructure Fund since February 6, 2024.
His education
He holds a master's in Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in addition to a bachelor's in Economics, a second bachelor's in Accounting, and a minor in Management Information Systems from Penn State University. In addition to serving as Minister of Economy and Planning, Alibrahim is the general supervisor of the Secretariat of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA) and chairman of the Board of the General Authority for Statistics.
His career
Alibrahim worked in a multitude of public and private sectors, and his career has been linked to the Saudi Arabian Oil Company "Saudi Aramco" and the Ministry of Economy and Planning. He holds several memberships of councils and committees in government bodies and institutions. He supervised the CEDA secretariat, occupied the position of secretary of the Board of Directors of the National Development Fund, served as vice-president of Aramco Development Co., and headed the Mergers and Acquisitions unit developing new businesses. Further, Alibrahim was the director of the King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries and Services Project at Ras al-Khair for commercial and financial affairs, and director of the Vela-Bahri fleet merger project.
His positions
Before becoming minister, Alibrahim assumed several positions in the Ministry of Economy and Planning, including as adviser, and then deputy minister, before the royal order was issued appointing him as Minister of Economy and Planning on May 3, 2021. On February 6, 2024, he was selected as chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Infrastructure Fund.
