His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (born in 1979) has been the Governor of al-Jawf Province since December 27, 2018, as the fifteenth governor of the province.
Contributions of Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf
Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf chairs the board of directors of Aljouf Sustainable Energy Association, which aims to transform the community of al-Jawf Province into a model community in using green energy, and a source of knowledge and expertise in sustainable energy. The association is a non-profit that brings together those interested in green energy to raise the community’s culture in the field of green energy uses and support national efforts to activate and promote alternative energy in the local energy system in accordance with Saudi Vision 2030.
In 2023, Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf Bin Abdulaziz sponsored the Waad Technical Forum for Employment and Training 2023, which witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements serving the people of the province in the aspects of employment and renewable energy. These included four agreements between the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, Northern Educational Company, Sikaka Solar Power, and Dawmat al-Jandal Wind Energy Company. Additionally, five other agreements were signed between the Saudi Polytechnic Institute for Renewable Energy and each of the Human Resources Development Fund, Desert Technologies, Masdar Saudi Arabia, al-Babtain Power and Telecommunications Company, Emerge Company, and National Agricultural Holding Company. In addition, the Otqen Initiative was also launched for training girls.
On May 21, 2023, Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf, in cooperation with Jouf University and the province's General Directorate of Narcotics Control, launched the 'Don't Try' initiative, with the aim of educating young people about the harms and dangers of drugs.
Awards launched by Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf
As part of the work to develop al-Jawf Province on the social, economic, and urban levels, Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf has launched a number of awards aimed at serving the people of the province and improving their standard of living, namely:
- Al-Jawf Traffic Safety Award: The first edition of the award was launched in 2022 in its three branches: Ideal Driver, Best Traffic Safety Initiative, and Best Cooperator with the Traffic Department. The award’s prize money for the three branches is SAR50,000. It aims to spread the culture of traffic awareness among the inhabitants of al-Jawf Province, citizens and residents alike, promote sound traffic values and trends, as well as to encourage the community to participate and contribute to sustainable innovations, initiatives, and projects in the aspect of traffic safety.
- Educational and Institutional Excellence Award: It aims to stimulate the educational and administrative community towards outstanding performance, and promote practices that advance the level of work and achievement. It is awarded to different target groups, including: 'School excellence', 'Outstanding Teacher', 'Educational Services', 'Educational Supervisor', 'Volunteerism, and 'Outstanding Student'.
- Al-Jawf Governor Community Sports Award: It is an award with sporting and social objectives that contributes to the consolidation and promotion of a vibrant society, within the framework of the Saudi Vision 2030. The total prizes for male and female contestants in the first edition were SAR220,000.
