Al-ShumaisiNeighborhood is a neighborhood in Riyadh City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is one of the first neighborhoods to emerge after the demolition of the Riyadh Wall. Its street was an important artery for traffic, shopping, and the beginnings of large restaurants.

Establishment of al-Shumaisi Neighborhood

The new al-Shumaisi Neighborhood was established during the expansion at the end of the 1950s. It extends from al-Batha to King Saud Medical City, commonly known among Riyadh residents as 'al-Shumaisi Hospital,' and leads to the emirate. It had a main line that included kitchens serving Riyadh and major events. Both the old and new al-Shumaisi neighborhoods witnessed social activities and entertainment shows such as 'Tash Ma Tash' and others.

Al-Shumaisi Water Reservoir

Al-Shumaisi Neighborhood is associated with the discovery of the Manjur Aquifer, which supplied water to Riyadh City. In 1957, excavation work began, starting in al-Shumaisi Neighborhood, and soon led to the discovery of the Manjur Aquifer located at a depth ranging between 1,200 and 1,500 m. Along with its attached purification plant, it became the main source of municipal water in Riyadh.
