Bandar Bin Abdulaziz Bin Siraj Bin Abdulmalik Baleelah (born in 1975) is an imam and teacher at the Grand Mosque, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars, and an assistant professor at Taif University.

The life of Bandar Baleelah

Bandar Baleelah was born in Makkah al-Mukarramah, where he completed his education and graduated from Umm al-Qura University, earning a bachelor's degree in 1996, followed by a master's degree in 2001 from the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies. In 2008, he obtained a doctorate in jurisprudence from the Islamic University in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah.

Bandar Baleelah's membership in the Council of Senior Scholars

In 2020, a Royal Order was issued to reconstitute the Council of Senior Scholars and appoint new members, with Baleelah being among them.

Bandar Baleelah's work

He worked as a collaborative instructor of jurisprudence at the Holy Mosque Institute in Makkah. He has been appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Sharia at the College of Sharia and Regulations at Taif University from 2010 until now.

Bandar Baleelah served as an imam and preacher at several mosques in Makkah al-Mukarramah, the last being Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Bin Baz Mosque in ash-Shisha Neighborhood. In 2013, he was appointed by the king to lead Taraweeh prayers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah al-Mukarramah. On October 9, 2013, he was officially appointed as an imam of the Grand Mosque, beginning his role by leading the Maghrib prayer the following day. In 2020, a Royal Order was issued appointing him as a preacher at the Grand Mosque.

Bandar Baleelah's appointment to deliver the Arafah Sermon

During the Hajj season of 2021, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz approved the appointment of Sheikh Dr. Bandar Bin Abdulaziz Baleelah, imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque and member of the Council of Senior Scholars, to deliver the Arafah sermon.

The Arafah sermon holds great significance for all Muslims. The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia takes special care to translate the sermon through the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Project for Translating the Arafah Sermon and the sermons of the Two Holy Mosques, making it accessible to the world in ten languages.
