Diriyah Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), was established in 2022. It is dedicated to developing ad-Diriyah as a prominent global historical and cultural destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The city was the capital of the First Saudi State and is approximately three hundred years old.

Diriyah Company location

Diriyah Company's project originates from the historical district of at-Turaif, one of the Saudi sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2010. It is located in ad-Diriyah Governorate, northwest of Riyadh City, the Kingdom's capital.

Diriyah Company objectives

The Diriyah Company aims to develop ad-Diriyah and restore its status as a prominent global historical and cultural destination, blending the past with the present. The company also strives to prepare the area for tourists and visitors to explore the history and culture of the Kingdom and the Arabian Peninsula through its museums and cultural landmarks. In addition, it seeks to promote a culture of continuous development and growth, while offering personal and professional opportunities for its employees.

Diriyah Company projects

Diriyah Company encompasses several tourism projects, including Bab Samhan Hotel, a five-star Marriott hotel overlooking Wadi Hanifah; the Diriyah Art Futures, a collaborative venture with the Ministry of Culture that serves as a hub for local and international artists to explore and showcase their talents with the public; Al-Bujairi Park, a garden situated amidst Wadi Hanifah, surrounded by palm trees and featuring walking paths, recreational areas, and views of the cultural at-Turaif District; Samhan Parking, a dedicated parking facility located near al-Bujairi Park and al-Bujairi Terrace; and Diriyah Square, a modern destination inspired by Najdi culture, hosting approximately 550 local, regional, and international brands.

Diriyah Company assets

Diriyah Company encompasses a rich portfolio of assets, including al-Bujairi Terrace, the historic at-Turaif District, and the Diriyah Sales Center. These assets contributed to welcoming nearly one million visitors in the first five months since opening.

Diriyah Company flagpole

The flagpole located in King Salman Square, ad-Diriyah, is one of the largest in the Kingdom's capital. Diriyah Company oversees its maintenance year-round, ensuring its readiness for any event hosted in the area.

Diriyah Company's targets by 2030

The development budget for ad-Diriyah region until 2030 is estimated at SAR236 billion, spanning an area of approximately fourteen km. The region will encompass various amenities including one hundred restaurants, twenty-eight luxury hotels, 34,000 residential units, and 1.6 million m dedicated to office spaces. Additionally, it will offer a wide range of educational, entertainment, and retail services. The future population is estimated to reach one hundred thousand residents, and the annual number of visitors is expected to be around fifty million.

Diriyah Company achievements

Diriyah Company achieved the ParkSmart Gold Level certification for al-Bujairi Terrace parking in 2021. In 2022, it won the Future Project Award from the Royal Institute of Planners (RLI). Additionally, in 2023, it obtained the LEED Platinum certification.

Transfer of ownership of Diriyah Sports Club

On July 15, 2024, Diriyah Company completed the procedures to transfer the ownership of Diriyah Club from the National Center for Privatization. This step is part of the sports club investment and privatization project, which was announced by Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in June 2023. The project aims to support and develop the sports sector, and encourage and empower the private sector to contribute effectively to the sports field, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Construction works projects

In May 2024, Diriyah Company commenced construction works on five administrative and office buildings in Diriyah Square. These five low-rise office buildings offer approximately 39,000 m of gross leasable area, a total gross floor area of around 47,000 m, and can accommodate over one thousand vehicles. With a capacity of up to four thousand people, the complex also includes a kindergarten facility.

In July 2024, Diriyah Company signed a contract for extensive construction works in the northern region of ad-Diriyah , valued at over SAR7.8 billion. The project involves the construction of a multi-use area encompassing advanced educational institutions, cultural sites, modern offices, and a luxury hotel.

Additionally, in July 2024, the company also signed a contract for the construction of four luxury hotels and the Royal Equestrian and Polo Club in Wadi Safar, ad-Diriyah, valued at SAR8 billion. The four hotels are: Aman, Six Senses, The Chedi, and Faena. These hotels are part of over forty hotels planned for ad-Diriyah and Wadi Safar projects.
