Prince Sultan Military Medical City was inaugurated during the reign of King Khalid Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, about four years after he assumed the reins of power, specifically in the year 1978. Its main headquarters is located in the capital, Riyadh, next to King Fahad Medical City, and only one km away from it.

Prince Sultan Military Medical City includes several hospitals and specialized medical centers, including the main hospital in Riyadh, the General Organization for Military Industries Hospital in al-Kharj, King Abdulaziz Military College Hospital, Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Riyadh as well as a group of outpatient clinics.

Prince Sultan Military Medical City offers several educational programs, through the Center for Health Studies and its Nursing Department. Those programs include: the Nursing Diploma Program, which aims to qualify nurses to practice the profession in all health facilities affiliated with the Ministry of Defense. The Nursing Department holds specialized programs and courses to develop medical staff professionally. The city also provides health education services and spreads awareness about patients’ rights and duties.
Surgical tower in Prince Sultan Military Medical City
In 2017, the new surgical tower was opened in Prince Sultan Military Medical City. The tower is a ten-level building designed to accommodate up to three hundred beds. It is equipped with cutting-edge medical technologies with the highest levels of quality and health safety. It includes many specialized clinics, a radiology department, an internal pharmacy, a medical engineering department, a nephrology department, intensive care, operating theatres, an emergency department, obstetric hospitalization, and neonatal intensive care.
