Majed Abdullah

Majed Ahmed Abdullah (born 1959) is a Saudi footballer who played for al-Nassr FC and the Saudi national team. He won the Saudi League top scorer title six times and scored approximately five hundred goals throughout his career. Majed was also named the best player in Asia three consecutive times in 1984, 1985, and 1986.

Majed Abdullah was born in al-Baghdadiyah Neighborhood of Jeddah Governorate and began his football career in 1977 in the capital, Riyadh, with al-Nassr FC, where his father was a coach at the time. He played for approximately twenty-two years, during which he won eleven titles with al-Nassr FC and achieved numerous accolades and successes with the Saudi national team.

Majed Abdullah led the Saudi national team to many accomplishments, including winning the AFC Asian Cup twice and qualifying for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. He also captained the Saudi team to qualify for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in the United States. Additionally, he was named the Arab top scorer and won the "Golden Boot" twice at the Gulf level between 1981 and 1989. He was also recognized as the "Asian Player of the Month" in 1995 and 1997. Majed Abdullah is the first Gulf player to score five goals in a single Gulf Cup match, which he did against Qatar in 1979, and he remains the only player to score in five consecutive Gulf Cups. In 1995, he was honored with the title of the Dean of World Players.

Majed Abdullah participated in numerous tournaments with the Saudi national team, including the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in 1982, 1986, 1990, and 1994. He also played in the AFC Asian Cup tournaments in 1984 in Singapore and 1988 in Qatar, and in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, USA. Additionally, he took part in the Gulf Cup tournaments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Bahrain, the UAE, and Oman, as well as the Asian Games in Seoul, Bangkok, and Beijing, the Islamic Solidarity Games in Izmir, the Arab Cup, the Afro-Asian Cup, and the Australia Gold Cup.

Majed Abdullah played 117 matches with the Saudi national team, starting in 116 of them. He was substituted in twenty-five matches and played ninety full matches. During his time with the national team, he scored a total of seventy-two goals.
