His Excellency Ahmed Bin Aqeel al-Khateeb (born in 1965) has been the Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since February 25, 2020. He was the first minister to lead the Ministry of Tourism in the Kingdom and the first chairman of the General Entertainment Authority from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, he served as Minister of Health for three months in 2015.

His education

Born in Riyadh, he finished his undergraduate education with a bachelor's in Business Administration from King Saud University in the capital Riyadh, and received a diploma in Wealth Management from Dalhousie University, Canada.

His positions

Ahmed al-Khateeb heads a number of boards of directors, including: Saudi Tourism Authority, Saudi Red Sea Authority, Tourism Development Fund, National Development Fund, and Saudi Arabian Military Industries Co. (SAMI). He is also a member and secretary-general of the Board of Directors of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, and head of the Quality of Life Program committee. This comes in addition to his membership in other boards, such as the Board of Directors of NEOM and the Board of Directors of Red Sea Global, among others.

Ahmed al-Khateeb has more than twenty-five years of experience in the investment and financial services sectors, and has contributed to the establishment of several government bodies. He participated in the establishment of the Client Investments Department after joining Riyad Bank in 1992, co-founded Islamic banking 'Amana', and founded Jadwa Investment Company in 2006.
