As-Sulaymi Governorate is one of the governorates of Hail Province, in the northern center of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established more than four hundred years ago and is one of the three least populous governorates of the province. The 2022 Saudi Census shows that only 2.3 percent of the population of Hail Province, estimated at 17,343 persons, live in the governorate.

Location of as-Sulaymi Governorate

As-Sulaymi Governorate is located in the south of Hail Province, eighty km from the center of the province. It is bordered by al-Ghazalah Governorate to the north, Samira'a Governorate to the east, al-Qassim and al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Provinces to the south, and al-Hait Governorate to the west. As-Sulaymi Governorate is among the Category (B) governorates and has twelve administrative centers. Al-Sulaimi Governorate is located on the banks of Wadi al-Rummah, the largest valley in the Arabian Peninsula, making it a habitat for thick Acacia plants, Arfaj flower (Rhanterium epapposum), and Haloxylon plants.

Transportation in as-Sulaymi Governorate

As-Sulaymi Governorate is serviced by Hail International Airport. It is the closest airport. It is located 181 km from the principality seat. It is a regional airport with a capacity of around five million travelers per year. Road sixty-six is considered the main land transportation in the city and is used to access the governorate and travel to and from the closest major cities in the Kingdom.
