The Holy Site of Arafat is surrounded by a semicircle of mountains, with a plain in the center, bounded by Uranah Valley on several sides. It is located on the road connecting Makkah al-Mukarramah City and Taif Governorate, about twenty-two km east of Makkah al-Mukarramah, six km from Muzdalifah Site, and ten km from Mina Site.
Arafat Site is the only Holy Site outside the boundaries of the Grand Mosque. It is a flat plain containing Mount Arafat, known as Jabal al-Rahmah, which reaches three hundred m in height. At its center stands a marker that is seven m tall. In addition, there is Namirah Mosque, where pilgrims perform the combined and shortened Zuhr and Asr prayers on the ninth day of Dhu al-Hijjah each year.
