Wadi al-Ahsaba Dam is a soil dam and one of the water courses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was launched in 2012 and is located in al-Mikhwah Governorate in al-Bahah Province.

Wadi al-Ahsaba Dam features

The length of Wadi al-Ahsaba Dam stands at 895 m, with a height of twenty-two m. A maximum water storage capacity of eleven million m³ was achieved during the construction phase. It supplies water to nearly fifteen wells situated behind the dam, serving as a primary source of drinking water for the governorates of al-Mikhwah and Ghamid al-Zinad affiliated with al-Bahah Province.

Objectives of opening dam gates

The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture opens the dam gates for multiple purposes, such as releasing excess water accumulated during heavy rainfall, managing rising water levels near the spillway, supplying water to farmers' wells, and supporting agricultural activities.

Wadi al-Ahsaba

Wadi al-Ahsaba is a seasonal watercourse on the Tihamah Plains, west of the Kingdom. It extends from al-Bahah and ends in Makkah al-Mukarramah. It is about one hundred km long and is fed by Wadi Batat.
