They also provide a suitable environment for their care and nourishment using natural and synthetic fertilizers. Nurseries also serve as an optimal environment for increasing production by saving time and reducing costs for farmers while minimizing plant diseases.
Establishment of nurseries in Saudi Arabia
In 2022, the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification announced the establishment of the Rangeland and Wild Nurseries Complex in al-Jawf Province, covering an area of one hundred thousand m². The complex consists of twenty-eight units aimed at producing more than fifteen million seedlings annually, along with a warehouse for storing raw materials, a production preparation area, and a loading zone.
The complex produces plants such as Haloxylon (Haloxylon salicornicum), Atriplex (Atriplex halimus), Tamarix (Tamarix aphylla), Calligonum (Calligonum comosum), Artemisia (Artemisia herba-alba), Cymbopogon (Cymbopogon schoenanthus), Rhanterium (Rhanterium epapposum), Ziziphus (Ziziphus spina-christi), Acacia (Acacia tortilis), Prosopis (Prosopis cineraria), and Tamarix (Tamarix articulata). It aims to rehabilitate three hundred thousand ha of rangeland by 2030. The complex aims to meet the needs of partners, afforestation campaigns, and individuals for native plants across the provinces of the Kingdom.

Nurseries in the Kingdom produce a variety of trees and plants that nourish public facilities, homes, and gardens. These include roses, mangoes, bananas, seasonal flowers, fragrant flowers, and ornamental palms.
Additionally, nurseries in the Kingdom produce papaya, figs, soursop, sapodilla, grapes, peaches, apricots, mulberries, lemon 'Bin Zuhair,' cypress, palms, ficus, Ficus benghalensis, gardenia, night queen, jasmine, hibiscus, and air-purifying trees like Dracaena marginata, which help eliminate airborne microbes inside homes and repel certain insects, all while offering a beautiful appearance. Other plants include Buxus, Ficus benghalensis, Azadirachta indica, Ficus, and date palms.
Nurseries in the Kingdom also produce narcissus, ornamental palms, Cycas, Fuchsia, Moluccella, fan palms, Foxtail palm, Phoenix, Moringa, mint, basil, thyme, bay laurel, rosemary, celery, lemon leaves, guava leaves, local cactus, Afoularia, Ziziphus spina-christi, as well as some fragrant trees such as roses, jasmine, and pandanus tectorius. Nurseries in the Kingdom also produce Cestrum, jasmine, henna (Lawsonia inermis), Iraqi jasmine, Thai jasmine, double bougainvillea, dwarf bougainvillea, Ficus, bougainvillea, Tecoma, Tecomaria, Bifta, Len Nana, annuals, narcissus, and petunias.
